One of the most brightly coloured out of all the golden conifers, ‘Golden Rider’ is certain to make a beautiful ornamental piece in any garden! Less vigorous than most other conifers it is rarely used as hedging but is great for maintaining its trimmed spiral shape. Leyland Cypress will grow in almost all fertile, well drained soils. Try to plant in a sunny site sheltered from cold drying winds.

Containerized Leyland Cypress can be planted all year round, when the hedge is dormant and energy from photosynthesis is put into root growth. Ensure that the area where you are going to plant the hedge is clear and weed-free, you can then mulch with stones or bark. Always plant to the same depth as the container it arrived in.
